Marriage Counseling Online for Couples with Communication Issues

Feeling more like roommates than partners? Let’s help you reconnect. You can't remember when you last felt passionate in your marriage. Your relationship has changed from being lovers to being partners, and now roommates. You can't bear living like this for another 20 years, yet you can't imagine a life without your person. Lately, you swing between feeling disconnected and being annoyed with them. During these times, your partner appears stubborn and unchanging. Occasionally, there are glimpses of the life you envisioned for both of you, but those moments are too few.

Check out couples who I see:

  • You might be an older couple wanting to reconnect. Where did life go? What happened to us?

  • You might be an immigrant or bicultural couple navigating stress and identity.

  • You might be an LGBTQ+ couple feeling disconnected, unseen, and unsupported, or struggling with identity.

Do you see yourself in any of these couples?

  • If you are a military couple, you need to reconnect despite deployments, TDYs, and the mission. There might be trauma mixed in with all this.

  • You might be a high-achieving couple who feel like roommates.

  • You might be a couple searching for pre-marital counseling. You want to get it right before you start on your important journey.

Meet Your Online Couples Therapist in San Francisco

Hi! I am Liliana, an online couples therapist in California. I am bilingual and culturally sensitive. I support couples who feel disconnected and are ready to improve their communication. The goal will be to help you reconnect emotionally and sexually and create a vibrant vision for your future by prioritizing your relationship.

I can help you so that you can live in a marriage where you are both happy and working as a team. After working together, you expect to communicate without it escalating. You will feel emotionally safe again because you’ll understand each other’s triggers. You will be able to rebuild intimacy and trust with each other.

What does Online Couples Therapist with me look like?

First, the three of us will have a free 20-minute video consultation. If we all agree that we can work together, I’ll send you the intake forms for you to complete prior to your appointment. When you come to see me, we will review the forms and schedule an individual session for each of you to share your story. After I hear from both of you together and individually, I will identify your patterns in conflict and propose a treatment plan. After we all agree, we will practice building communication tools. The expectation will be for you to practice these tools between sessions. By improving your communication tools and managing your patterns, you will deepen your emotional connection. The end result and hope is that you will learn things about yourself and about each other.

I will create a warm, safe, and supportive therapeutic online space as you work together to achieve your goals. I don't take sides. I’m there to support both of you. I balance between being directive and caring towards both of you. Together, you will learn to reclaim what has been lost to the two of you and claim what you are truly capable of as partners.

If you are ready to improve your relationship, give me a call at (408) 219-6676, click the button, or visit my contact page to schedule a free consultation. Counseling sessions are available online. I can see anyone in California.

Couples who I work with - Do you see yourself?

OLDER COUPLES

You’ve built a life together - you have shared memories. The kids are grown, and grandchildren are a joy. But somewhere along the line, you’ve grown apart. Your conversations feel distant. You are both stuck in patterns you don’t enjoy. You’ve lost sight of who you are together. Yet, you still care for each other. Therapy is a place you can slow down, be heard, improve your communication, and rediscover each other. It’s a place where you can find new ways of connecting with the people who you are today so that you can continue your life story together.

IMMIGRANT OR BIRACIAL COUPLE

You may be an immigrant or bicultural couple navigating differences in culture, identity, and belonging—while also facing the weight of racism, family expectations, or the stress of building a life between worlds. You love each other, but the strain can show up in misunderstandings, disconnection, or feeling unseen. Therapy offers a space where you improve your communication and connection by honoring your stories, helping you make sense of these experiences together, and strengthening a connection that feels respectful, grounded, and supportive of who you each are. We can even do the therapy in Spanish if that is your preferred language.

LGBTQ+ COUPLE

You’re an LGBTQ+ couple who have created something meaningful together. You were in love and connected with each other. But you have both had to navigate identity, family dynamics, family acceptance, and the impact of living in a world that doesn’t feel supportive or affirming of you and your relationship. This creates stress between the two of you, making you feel disconnected, misunderstood, and unseen; perhaps concerned. Slowly, you’ve lost each other. I offer a therapy that is affirming and inclusive. I will help you strengthen communication, reconnect emotionally, and build a relationship where there is love, respect, and alignment with who you both are.

Do you see yourself in any of these couples?

MILITARY OR VETERAN COUPLE

You’re a military or veteran couple who once felt deeply connected and in love with a shared purpose. But the realities of service - deployments, TDYs, long hours, and the demands of the mission - have taken a toll. You may feel distant, overwhelmed, or like you’re carrying the weight alone. PTSD or TBI can add another layer, making communication and connection even harder. Therapy offers a space to slow down, rebuild trust, and find your way back to each other - strengthening your relationship with understanding, compassion, love, and new ways to communicate.

HIGH-ACHIEVING COUPLE

You’re a high-achieving couple who have built a life marked by ambition, responsibility, and success. On the outside, things may look like they’re working—but behind the scenes, the pressure, long hours, and constant striving can leave you feeling disconnected or running parallel lives. Conversations become transactional, intimacy takes a back seat, and it’s hard to slow down long enough to truly see each other. Therapy offers a space to step out of the pressure, reconnect with what matters most, and create a relationship that feels as fulfilling and intentional as the life you’ve worked so hard to build.

PRE-MARITAL COUPLE

You’re a couple who feel excited about building a future together and want to start your marriage on a strong foundation. You are looking for pre-marital counseling. At the same time, you may be noticing differences in communication, values, finances, family expectations, or how you handle conflict. These conversations can feel uncomfortable, but they matter. Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand each other more deeply, learn to be honest with each other, and build the tools you need for a connected, resilient relationship—so you can move forward with clarity, confidence, and intention.
